Tips For Sleeping Better

Not much to report today which actually makes a nice change. Whitesnake and I are enjoying a week off together before he starts his new job and I'm feeling much more relaxed than I was. I decided to head over to Helium to write an article since I don't have much to report.

Keeping Up With KB

I haven't been around much because I've been unwell. I think there was so much going on in my life with my divorce, Whitesnake's job, money worries, step-daughter's marriage, house being put on the market

Whitesnake took a few days off work to stay with me and we went to the Doctor. I've been on and off medication for anxiety for several years, the Dr gave me some new medication to try and it's really helping. The first week was awful and I almost gave up taking it, I had no appetite, more anxiety, headache and just felt generally spaced out and tired. I'm so glad I stuck with it, I'm feeling much less anxious and my worries seem to be more in perspective and less on my mind. I'm also seeing a therapist once a week and finding him very helpful.

A big thank you to my darling Whitesnake. I don't know how I would have gotten through this past month without your love and support.

The article I wrote for the Helium website today is...Social Anxiety Disorder and Social Phobia

It's offical, I'm finally divorced, yay! I thought I'd be sad but the sadness has been and gone and I'm happy to be moving on with my life. All that's left is to sell the house and settle the money and I'm free to start my new life.

Here's a poem I wrote today...It's Time To Move On

NZ Give Way Rules

Tomorrow morning the new give way rules take effect in New Zealand. Follow the link to take the quiz to see if you are ready NZ. My answers were all correct but I'm pretty sure a good majority of people didn't know what the old rules were anyway. I'll be staying off the roads as much as possible until things settle down a bit.

Speaking of tomorrow, it's the last day Whitesnake will be working at that place that's given both of us many a sleepless night. He'll be starting a new job the following week. I'm very proud of him for sticking it out until he found a new job! You can read about the crap he's had to put up with in the workplace here.

Here's a poem I wrote today...Let Me In. It's about my step-daughter who recently got married. I found out via face book of all places. She told me previously she doesn't want a relationship with me anymore. It was tough to see her in the photos but at least I could see she's happy.

Righto, there is much more to report but I think that's enough for one day.

Our recipe for the week is Simply Delish Beef Stir Fry, click on the link for the details.

Quote Of The Day

We must be willing to let go of the life we have planned, so as to have the life that is waiting for us. ~E. M. Forster

Here's my poem for the day. It's an old one but I like it.

Escape With Me

There is so much going on with me right now that I haven't had much time for blogging. Don't really feel like writing about it now but I'm sure I will when things get better.

Hope you are all well

Teaser Tuesdays ~ Darkness Peering by Alice Blanchard

Teaser Tuesdays is hosted by the lovely MizB of Should Be Reading.

Here's how it works...

Grab your latest read, open it up and share two sentences from the page. Easy as that. Don't forget to link back to MizB and share the title and author of your book so others can add to their TBR (to be read) list if they wish.

Here's my teaser...

Police chief Nalen Storrow found the dead girl lying faceup in a rust-colored runoff pond on the westernmost corner of Old Mo Heppenheimer's cow pasture. Her milky eyes were open to the morning sky, one hand suspended as if brushing away insects.

Have a great day/night and I'll see you again soon.

Happy reading,

A Dog's Purpose

I love this story...

Being a veterinarian, I had been called to examine a ten-year-old Irish Wolfhound named Belker. The dog's owners, Ron, his wife Lisa, and their little boy Shane, were all very attached to Belker, and they were hoping for a miracle.

I examined Belker and found he was dying of cancer. I told the family we couldn't do anything for Belker, and offered to perform the euthanasia procedure for the old dog in their home.

As we made arrangements, Ron and Lisa told me they thought it would be good for six-year-old Shane to observe the procedure. They felt as though Shane might learn something from the experience.

The next day, I felt the familiar catch in my throat as Belker 's family surrounded him. Shane seemed so calm, petting the old dog for the last time, that I wondered if he understood what was going on. Within a few minutes, Belker slipped peacefully away.

The little boy seemed to accept Belker's transition without any difficulty or confusion. We sat together for a while after Belker's Death, wondering aloud about the sad fact that animal lives are shorter than human lives. Shane, who had been listening quietly, piped up, ''I know why.''

Startled, we all turned to him. What came out of his mouth next stunned me. I'd never heard a more comforting explanation. It has changed the way I try and live..

He said, ''People are born so that they can learn how to live a good life -- like loving everybody all the time and being nice, right?'' The Six-year-oldcontinued, ''Well, dogs already know how to do that, so they don't have to stay as long.''

Live simply.

Love generously.

Care deeply.

Speak kindly.

Remember, if a dog was the teacher you would learn things like:

When loved ones come home, always run to greet them.

Never pass up the opportunity to go for a joyride.

Allow the experience of fresh air and the wind in your face to be pure Ecstasy.

Take naps.

Stretch before rising.

Run, romp, and play daily.

Thrive on attention and let people touch you.

Avoid biting when a simple growl will do..

On warm days, stop to lie on your back on the grass.

On hot days, drink lots of water and lie under a shady tree.

When you're happy, dance around and wag your entire body.

Delight in the simple joy of a long walk.

Be loyal.

Never pretend to be something you're not.

If what you want lies buried, dig until you find it.

When someone is having a bad day, be silent, sit close by, and nuzzle them gently.
