Checking In

Hi all,

I hope you are well. Today I've finally downloaded and deleted my articles from Helium Network. The site is shutting its doors next month and I had over 300 articles to sort through. I'm glad that job is over.

I'm still doing most of my blogging over on Bubblews and enjoying it. I get paid much more that I do here on Blogger too.

Whitesnake and I haven't much planned for today but I am looking forward to watching the first episode of the new season of The Walking Dead later.

See you soon

How to Lessen Daily Stress

Stress is a common part of life, but when stress is allowed to build, it can interfere with daily life and contribute to health issues. Taking steps to manage daily issues can lessen stress and lead to a happier, healthier life.

Exercise

Most forms of exercise reduce stress and if practiced on a regular basis, provide additional health benefits. Exercise releases powerful feel-good chemicals to the brain, improving mood and lessening feelings of stress. Walking is a perfect stress reliever as it's suitable for most people, it's free and can be done almost anywhere. Experts recommend healthy adults engage in an activity such as walking for a minimum of 30 minutes, 5 days per week. Exercise can be broken down into smaller amounts and spread throughout the day if more convenient. Just being more, rather than less active, can make a huge difference to stress levels.

Socialize

Spending time with positive people is a fun way to lessen daily stress. Going out with friends to share some laughs or talking through problems with a trusted friend are effective ways of reducing stress. Healthy adults should aim to interact with others at least once a day.

Journal

Keeping a journal is one of the best ways to lessen daily stress. Writing in a journal connects an individual to thoughts and feelings that may be causing stress. Problems can seem less dramatic when written down and this process lessens daily stress considerably.

Sleep

Stressed out people tend to have difficulties falling asleep or staying asleep. This may be because the sleep cycle has been disrupted. Going to bed and waking at approximately the same time each morning and night, can reset the sleep cycle in as little as 3 weeks. Individuals who have trouble falling asleep may find that developing a sleep routine is beneficial. Engaging in a relaxing activity each day before bed such as listening to relaxing music or taking a warm bath, informs the mind and body that it's time to prepare for sleep.

Relax

Relaxing activities reduce stress quickly and regular relaxation practices make it easier for an individual to deal with daily stress. There are many forms of relaxation and each individual needs to discover which techniques works best for them.

Be prepared

Taking a little time each evening to prepare for the following day is an easy way to lessen stress. Simple tasks such as setting out clothes, preparing lunch for the kids or simply knowing where keys and mobile phones are, can make a big impact on how the next day begins. Setting aside some time in the morning to prepare for the day ahead, check the schedule and confirm appointments, rather than rushing ahead without a plan, can lead to a calmer, more productive day.

Dealing with stress reduction on a daily basis by exercising, socializing, keeping a journal, getting enough sleep, relaxing and being prepared means stress is less likely to become problematic. However, if stress begins to interfere with daily life, advice should be sought from a medical professional.
